Everyone wonders where we got our name.  We began using it back when we had a miniature
painting service, and then kept it for the Guild.  Truth be told, we don't
actually remember which
one of us came up with it - or why!   However we arrived at the choice,  "Wombat and Chips" is
our humorous homage to British Pub names.  (For example: "The Coach and Horses"," The
George and Dragon", "The Cat & Custard Pot" etc.)
What is a Wombat?
The Cat's Out of the Bag
Wombats are Australian
marsupials; short-legged,
muscular quadrupeds,
approximately 3 feet in length
with a small tail. The name
wombat comes from the Eora
Aboriginal tribe who were the
original inhabitants of the
Sydney area. Wombats dig
extensive burrow systems with
rodent-like front teeth and
powerful claws. Although mainly
crepuscular and nocturnal,
wombats will also venture out to
feed on cool or overcast days.
Cute as they are, wombat's aren't the
best pets.  So instead, friendly cat
Arthur will make you feel at home.
They are not as easily seen as many animals, but leave ample evidence of their
passage, treating fences as a minor inconvenience to be gone through or under.
Wombats are herbivores, their diet consisting mostly of grasses, sedges and roots.
